Barclays, JPMorgan Sparred Over Lehman Assets: Atty

Law360, New York (August 31, 2010, 6:14 PM EDT) -- A Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP lawyer who advised Barclays PLC in the purchase of bankrupt Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.'s broker-dealer business testified Tuesday that the British firm had to resolve a dispute with JPMorgan Chase & Co. over billions of dollars in assets before closing the deal.

Victor Lewkow testified in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York as part of Barclays' efforts to justify the purchase price and described the level of transparency in the negotiations.
