Dell Gives Up On 3PAR After HP Offers $2.4B Bid

Law360, New York (September 2, 2010, 1:27 PM EDT) -- Data storage company 3Par has accepted a $2.4 billion offer from Hewlett-Packard Co., ending a drawn-out bidding war between HP and Dell Inc.

Dell offered a last-ditch bid of $32 per share late Wednesday, but HP topped it with a $33-per-share offer that 3Par's board of directors deemed superior, 3Par said in a statement Thursday. It was HP's fourth hostile bid for 3Par since Dell announced Aug. 16 that it had agreed to buy the company for $1.15 billion.
