DOJ Puts $700M Google-ITA Merger Under Spotlight

Law360, New York (September 7, 2010, 5:40 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice is reportedly investigating whether Google Inc.'s $700 million acquisition of flight information software company ITA Software Inc. may harm competition in the travel search engine industry.

The department has centered its probe around whether the deal would keep other travel search engines from using ITA's data and if Google would lead Internet searchers away from competitors toward its own travel search, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.
