Telecom Duel Detween Germany, E.C. Heats Up

Law360, New York (February 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission has launched expedited infringement proceedings against Germany over legislation it says defies its 2003 order directing dominant telecom companies to open their networks to competition.

The European Commission said Monday that it had decided to send Germany a “letter of formal notice” and launch “fast track” infringement proceedings over the country’s reluctance to force Deutsche Telekom AG to give its competitors access to its broadband network.
