EEOC Hits FedEx With Sex Bias Class Action

Law360, New York (September 14, 2010, 4:49 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has launched a class action alleging FedEx Freight Inc. passed over a group of women vying for a human resources position and instead hired an unqualified male dockworker.

The commission filed the complaint on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona. It claims the subsidiary of FedEx violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by basing a hiring decision on the sex of candidates.
