Dell Settles Class Action Over Defective Notebooks

Law360, New York (September 15, 2010, 4:17 PM EDT) -- A judge has given preliminary approval to a settlement in class action litigation against Dell Inc. under which the company will pay cash to thousands of owners of three Inspiron computer models to repair defects.

There are an estimated 1.4 million members in the class that encompasses owners of Dell Inspiron 1150, 5100 or 5160 notebook computers, according to the motion, approved Monday by Judge James L. Robart in the U.S. District for the Western District of Washington.
