Judge Endorses Delta’s $70M Payout To DOL

Law360, New York (February 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a critical move, a federal bankruptcy judge has approved Delta Air Lines Inc.'s proposed $70 million payment to oen of its benefit plans, enabling the beleaguered carrier to avoid a showdown with the U.S. Department of Labor.

On Thursday, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Adlai S. Hardin Jr. allowed Delta to make the multimillion-dollar payment in order to circumvent a possible Department of Labor probe or lengthy litigation.
