Net TV Startup Sues Disney, Fox, NBC, Others

Law360, New York (September 21, 2010, 3:04 PM EDT) -- Internet television provider Ivi Inc. has launched a pre-emptive suit against Disney Enterprises Inc., Fox Television Stations Inc., NBC Universal Inc. and other companies to defend the legality of rebroadcasting television channels over the Internet.

Seattle, Wash.-based Ivi asked the U.S. Court for the Western District of Washington to declare that it is sending out “secondary transmissions” under broadcast law, and is therefore legally entitled to rebroadcast the television signals.
