Asics Accused Of Libel Over Trademark Suit

Law360 (February 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Footwear maker Skechers USA Inc. has filed a federal trade-libel complaint against Japanese rival Asics Corp., accusing the company of illegally hurting its reputation through a disingenuous trademark lawsuit.

The complaint was filed on Feb. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, the same court where Asics’ U.S. subsidiary sued Skechers in late January, accusing it of copying a trademarked stripe design.
