$350M Deal Approved In United Health Class Action

Law360, New York (September 21, 2010, 7:09 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has given final approval to a $350 million settlement in a class action brought against United HealthCare Corp. by a cadre of physicians and industry groups that claimed the health insurer illegally underpaid doctors outside of its network.

The final settlement, filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, also assigns $89 million, about 25 percent of the settlement, to class counsel, according to Judge Lawrence M. McKenna’s order.
