Compilation Copyrights Don't Cover Each Work: Judge

Law360, New York (September 22, 2010, 4:31 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has ruled that a copyright registration for a photo compilation doesn't protect the individual photos unless the applicant provides information about each one, the third decision this year to reach the same conclusion in infringement suits against textbook publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Co.
