Samsung Faces Class Action Over Busted Fridges

Law360, New York (September 23, 2010, 2:02 PM EDT) -- A group of U.S. consumers has launched a class action against Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., claiming the company knowingly sold them defective refrigerators and refused to extend warranties, despite doing so for its customers in the United Kingdom.

Several models of Samsung refrigerators, ranging in retail price from $900 to $3,000, contain a defect that causes their coils to freeze over, eventually leading them to stop cooling altogether, according to a suit filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey....
