Dancers Sue La. Strip Club Over Lost Wages, Tips

Law360, New York (September 23, 2010, 5:02 PM EDT) -- A group of exotic dancers has hit a Louisiana strip club with a putative collective action alleging the club misclassified many of its employees as independent contractors and failed to pay them minimum and overtime wages.

In an amended complaint filed Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, 13 exotic dancers, along with a bouncer and a waitress, accused the Plantation Gentlemen’s Club of cutting corners to compensate strippers, shot girls, bartenders and other employees at rates far below statutory minimums....
