Fortress Settles Gambling-Cruise Workers' WARN Suit

Law360, New York (September 27, 2010, 5:22 PM EDT) -- Fortress Investment Group's SunCruz Casinos has agreed to pay more than $600,000 to settle claims with a class of employees who accused the company of failing to give proper notice that it would conduct a mass layoff prior to filing for bankruptcy in December 2009.

Magistrate Judge David Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on Monday signed off on the preliminary agreement resolving the suit, which alleged the company defrauded workers and violated the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act,...
