FTC Slaps Pom With False Health Claims Suit

Law360, New York (September 27, 2010, 4:03 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission has accused Pom Wonderful LLC of misleading the public and violating federal law by hawking its pomegranate juices and supplements with false and unsubstantiated claims that they treat heart disease, prostate cancer and erectile dysfunction.

The FTC hit Pom with an administrative complaint Monday, just two weeks after Pom targeted the agency in a lawsuit over new standards for evaluating health-based advertising claims.
