Special Master Appointed To Sort Out BP MDL Claims

Law360, New York (September 28, 2010, 7:59 PM EDT) -- The judge overseeing the BP PLC oil spill multidistrict litigation has appointed Francis McGovern, a Duke University Law professor, as special master to help tackle the complex claims arising from the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

Judge Carl J. Barbier issued the order Friday in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, citing the “numerous and varied defendants” in the MDL as cause for the appointment.
