Bill Aims To Limit US Liability In War Contracts

Law360, New York (October 1, 2010, 6:32 PM EDT) -- Legislation introduced in both chambers of Congress is aiming to ramp up federal lawmakers' oversight of “secretive” war contracting by publicizing classified indemnity clauses and limiting the government's duty to foot the bill for negligent military contractors.

S. 3909, the Accountability for Defense Contractors Act of 2010, was introduced in the U.S. Senate late Wednesday by Sens. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., and Jeff Merkley, D-Ore. Companion legislation is being sponsored in the U.S. House of Representatives by Reps. Earl Blumenauer, D-Ore., and Kurt Schrader, D-Ore.
