Rigases Denied High Court Appeal Of Prison Terms

Law360 (October 4, 2010, 6:57 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to review a decision upholding prison terms totaling 29 years for the founder of cable company Adelphia Communications Corp. and his son, who were convicted of fraud tied to questionable accounting practices.

John Rigas and his son Timothy, who were respectively sentenced to 12 years and 17 years in prison, argued in a May 28 petition for a writ of certiorari that an appeals court erred by affirming a 26-level sentencing enhancement for a more than $100 million shareholder loss...
