Ericsson, LG Sued Over Data Transmission Patents

Law360, New York (October 5, 2010, 12:48 PM EDT) -- Canadian licensing company Wi-LAN Inc. has accused Ericsson Inc., LG Electronics Inc. and several other wireless technology companies of making and selling smartphones, mobile broadband routers and other devices that infringe four patents covering data transmission.

Wi-LAN filed suit Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, claiming that the defendants have breached four patents through a variety of 3GPP-compliant products that use orthogonal codes to transmit or receive data items over wireless links in a single frequency channel.
