SBA Finalizes Rule To Aid Women Contractors

Law360, New York (October 5, 2010, 1:35 PM EDT) -- The Small Business Administration is moving to implement a long-pending rule aimed at helping women-owned small businesses win 5 percent of all federal contracts, targeting 83 industries where such firms have been historically underrepresented.

SBA Administrator Karen Mills announced finalization of the women's contracting rule Monday at the White House Women's Entrepreneurship Conference, nearly a decade after Congress first passed the authorizing statute for the program in December 2000.
