Law360, New York (October 5, 2010, 7:28 PM EDT) -- Avis Budget Group Inc. and Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc. said Tuesday that they would work together to win approval from antitrust regulators for a merger after Dollar Thrifty's shareholders rejected a bid from rival suitor Hertz Global Holdings Inc. in the contentious car rental buyout battle.
Avis topped Hertz's $1.45 billion takeover bid with an offer of about $1.52 billion, and on Sept. 30, Dollar Thrifty's shareholders voted down Hertz's offer.
