Coca-Cola Bottler Settles DOL Hiring Bias Case

Law360, New York (October 8, 2010, 2:27 PM EDT) -- Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, a major supplier of Coke products to the U.S. military, has agreed to pay $495,000 in back wages and interest to settle a U.S. Department of Labor case alleging it discriminated in its hiring practices.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based company, the second largest Coke bottler in the U.S., will pay the funds to 95 African-Americans and Hispanics who sought jobs with the Black Satchel Road distribution facility in Charlotte in 2002, DOL said Thursday.
