State Farm Blames 3M, Samsung Products For Leak

Law360, New York (October 11, 2010, 1:35 PM EDT) -- A State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Co. subsidiary has sued Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and a 3M Co. unit in a Houston court, claiming the manufacturers' faulty refrigeration equipment caused a leak that damaged a policyholder's home.

The complaint, filed by Noel O. Bailey on behalf of State Farms Lloyds on Friday in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, accuses Samsung and 3M Purification Inc. — formerly known as Cuno Inc. — of causing the leak with their faulty refrigerator and water-filter system.
