GAO Slams DOD Business System Upgrades

Law360, New York (October 11, 2010, 3:07 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has found that several projects intended to modernize Department of Defense business systems have run into schedule delays and cost increases, and says more rigorous management is needed as that work continues.

In a report Thursday, the GAO recommend that armed services branches develop integrated master schedules to better estimate the time and cost of those projects – intended to improve business operations, including financial accounting, inventory, supply planning and more – and use additional analyses to more accurately determine cost...
