Poultry Farmer Smacks Lloyd's With Class Action

Law360, New York (October 13, 2010, 2:51 PM EDT) -- A poultry farmer in Mississippi has hit Lloyd's of London and its Indiana-based insurance broker with a putative class action over bogus inspection fees that were tacked on to farmers' insurance policies.

Larry R. Norwood filed the complaint Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi, saying Lloyd's and Performance Insurance Services Inc., which does business as James Allen Insurance Brokers, knew the inspections would not be conducted but charged the fee to boost profits.
