Fidelity Ends Class Action Over Reimbursement Rates

Law360, New York (October 13, 2010, 4:52 PM EDT) -- Fidelity Security Life Insurance Co., Independence Holding Co. and others have settled a putative class action brought by a policyholder alleging that the companies' reliance on a faulty database to calculate out-of-network reimbursement rates forced consumers to pay more for health services.

Judge Lyle E. Strom of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nebraska signed off on an order dismissing Jane McCarthy's suit on Tuesday. Jill Robb Ackerman, an attorney for the defendants, said the settlement was confidential and declined to provide details....
