Rowling Loses Bid To Toss Wizard Plagiarism Suit

Law360, New York (October 15, 2010, 1:25 PM EDT) -- The judge in a U.K. copyright infringement case alleging that J.K. Rowling's novel “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” copied part of a 1987 book about a character named Willy the Wizard has denied Rowling's bid to have the case dismissed.

In a ruling on Thursday, Justice David Kitchin of the High Court in London denied a motion by Rowling and her British publisher, Bloomsbury Publishing PLC, to dismiss the suit by the estate of "Willy the Wizard" author Adrian Jacobs.
