Judge OKs $1.7M Settlement In Starwood Tips Suit

Law360 (October 14, 2010, 12:33 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has approved a $1.65 million settlement that ends an unfair-wage and breach of contract class action brought by waiters who accused Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. of withholding tips collected at dining functions and using them to pay nonwaitstaff employees.

Judge Rya Zobel signed off on the deal, under which the hotelier admitted no liability, on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
