Gateway Hit With Class Suit Over Faulty Computers

Law360, New York (October 15, 2010, 7:32 PM EDT) -- Gateway Inc. is facing a proposed class action claiming its desktop computers are “inherently defective” because they allegedly overheat under normal operating conditions.

Raymond Kelly and three other named plaintiffs lodged the case in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Thursday, alleging the Gateway LX6810 desktop computer’s cooling fan does not prevent overheating of its central processing unit and causes the computer to freeze, crash or shut down.
