Wal-Mart Slapped With RICO Suit Over Illegal Janitors

Law360, New York (October 18, 2010, 6:47 PM EDT) -- A group of illegal immigrants has accused Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in a putative class action of exploiting undocumented janitors by locking them into its stores overnight and failing to pay them a minimum wage and overtime.

In a suit filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, more than two dozen illegal immigrants who had worked as janitors accused Wal-Mart of violating the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act.
