Microsoft Faces Action Over Alleged Zune Defects

Law360, New York (October 18, 2010, 5:15 PM EDT) -- A putative class of consumers has accused Microsoft Corp. of knowingly manufacturing portable MP3 players with screens that develop unrepairable cracks through normal use.

In a second amended complaint lodged Friday in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, purchasers of the Microsoft Zune alleged that inherent defects caused the device's internal liquid crystal display panel to crack and break without being dropped or subjected to violent shock.
