A mere two years after embarking on its nuclear program, it was honored Sept. 23 by being awarded a seat on the board of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Such is the regard in which the UAE is held by member states that, as IAEA spokesman Ayhan Evrensel put it, the appointment “went through without a vote.”
