Facebook Seeks To Trim Advertisers' Click Fraud Suit

Law360, New York (October 25, 2010, 1:31 PM EDT) -- Citing disclaimers in its advertising contracts, social networking behemoth Facebook Inc. has asked a federal judge to trim allegations of so-called third-party click fraud from a putative class action accusing the company of overcharging advertisers.

The court had previously dismissed breach of contract claims related to third-party click fraud — when, for example, a competitor clicks repeatedly on an advertiser's site to drive up costs — but the plaintiffs have reasserted them as violations of the California Unfair Competition Law, Facebook said in motion to dismiss...
