Pregnancy Bias Case Against Bloomberg Trimmed

Law360, New York (October 26, 2010, 5:03 PM EDT) -- A federal judge has tossed retaliation claims from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's "acrimonious" pregnancy discrimination suit against Bloomberg LP, saying the EEOC's conciliation approach constituted a "weapon to force settlement."

Chief Judge Loretta A. Preska of the U.S. Court for the Southern District of New York on Monday granted Bloomberg's motion for summary judgment as to time-barred claims and granted in part and denied in part Bloomberg's motion for summary judgment for failure to conciliate.
