UXB Loses Protest Over Demining Contract

Law360, New York (October 28, 2010, 3:15 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has tossed the protest of a company that accused the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of improperly opening proposals for removing mines in Afghanistan to an unrestricted pool of contractors, rather than a pool of small businesses.

The GAO said in a decision Monday that the protest by UXB-KEMRON Remediation Services LLC was untimely because it was filed after the Sept. 22 due date in a delivery order request for proposals, issued by the Corps under "Worldwide Environmental Remediation Services” multiple-award,...
