RMI To Pay $1M To End FCA Allegations

Law360, New York (October 29, 2010, 7:36 PM EDT) -- Rocky Mountain Instrument Co., a manufacturer of optical devices for laser and imaging systems, has agreed to pay $1 million to resolve civil allegations that it violated the False Claims Act, in addition to a criminal penalty issued in a related case earlier in 2010.

The Lafayette, Colo.-based company reached a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice that puts to rest claims that RMI caused defense contractors to make false claims for payment to the Pentagon, the DOJ announced Friday.
