SmartPhone Hits Cell Phone Makers With IP Suit

Law360, New York (November 1, 2010, 3:41 PM EDT) -- SmartPhone Technologies LLC has accused a handful of cell phone manufacturers, including Nokia Corp. and Kyocera Corp., of infringing nine of its patents covering communications and Bluetooth technology with their Internet-ready phones.

Attorneys from Nelson Bumgardner Casto PC, The Simon Law Firm PC, Latimer Intellectual Property PC and Ward & Smith Law Firm lodged SmartPhone's suit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Friday, slamming the electronics companies with nine claims of willful patent infringement.
