Asarco, US Near Agreement Over Superfund Costs

Law360, New York (November 1, 2010, 7:43 PM EDT) -- Reorganized mining giant Asarco LLC has forged a proposed agreement with the U.S. government over environmental cleanup costs at the Blue Ledge Mine Superfund site in the Northwest.

Lawyers for Asarco and the government announced Oct. 29 that they had negotiated settlement language for an agreement over the environmental costs at Blue Ledge, according to a joint motion to extend a deadline in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California.
