2nd Circ. Rejects $3M Starbucks Burn Suit

Law360, New York (November 3, 2010, 2:49 PM EDT) -- A federal appeals court has thrown out a $3 million lawsuit against Starbucks Corp. brought by an elderly customer who claims she burned herself after spilling hot tea while trying to remove a lid from a doubled paper cup.

A three-judge panel for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on Tuesday affirmed a lower court's grant of summary judgment to Starbucks dismissing the entirety of the complaint.
