Insurance Broker Settles OT Class Actions For $3.9M

Law360 (November 4, 2010, 3:11 PM EDT) -- Insurance broker Arthur J. Gallagher Service Co. has settled two consolidated class actions for $3.9 million, ending a dispute with California-based claims representatives and adjusters who sought unpaid overtime wages under the Fair Labor Standards Act and California law.

Judge Larry Alan Burns of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California signed off on the settlement in an order Tuesday, saying that the agreement was fair, and would ward off further costs of litigation as well as protecting the plaintiffs from the risk of losing in a trial.
