CalPERS Lists Cos. With Worst Corporate Governance

Law360, New York (March 16, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- CalPERS, the biggest U.S. pension fund, has singled out Tenet Healthcare Corp., Eli Lilly & Co. and nine more companies as failing in corporate governance and financial performance.

The California Public Employees Retirement Fund has taken aim at some of the nation’s largest companies, including drug maker Eli Lilly, insurance provider Marsh & McLennan, and health care provider Tenet Heathcare.

Also named were Sarah Lee, the Tribune Company, International Paper, EMC, Dollar Tree Stores, Corinthian Colleges, the Kellwood Textile and apparel company Sanmina-SCI.
