Alleged $42M Construction Kickbacker Seeks Severance

Law360, New York (November 4, 2010, 5:50 PM EDT) -- A construction company owner charged with paying kickbacks to New York Presbyterian Hospital administrators in exchange for $42 million worth of contracts has asked a judge to sever the two charges against him from two others leveled only at the officials charged with taking his bribes.

Trying all four counts together would unfairly prejudice a jury against defendant Michael Yaron by exposing jury members to evidence that would not be allowed in a case on the first two counts alone, Yaron’s attorney said in a motion...
