Judge Keeps SocGen Trade Secrets Trial Open

Law360, New York (November 4, 2010, 6:01 PM EDT) -- A criminal trial against a former Societe Generale Group employee charged with stealing trading system computer code will proceed publicly next week, a judge ruled Thursday, despite government concerns about the possible revelation of trade secrets.

Judge Jed S. Rakoff flatly denied the government's request to seal the courtroom during the trial, set to begin Nov. 8 or Nov. 9, during a hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
