Lonestar Targets Sony In Latest Semiconductor IP Suit

Law360, New York (November 8, 2010, 12:52 PM EST) -- With settlements against other well-heeled defendants in hand, Lonestar Inventions LP has accused Sony Electronics Inc. of infringing a patent for high-capacitance structures in semiconductors.

Sony's products, including its CXD2819R Demodulator, infringe the Lonestar Inventions patent, according to a complaint lodged Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Demodulators are ubiquitous devices that essentially decode information from radio or other signals.

The suit asserts U.S. Patent Number 5,208,725, issued in 1993 and titled "High capacitance structure in a semiconductor device." According...
