Nokia Files Suits Against Qualcomm In Europe

Law360 (March 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Mobile phone company Nokia Corp. has filed patent exhaustion cases against Qualcomm Inc. in Germany and the Netherlands, the latest move in the ongoing battle over cell phone chip patents.

The Finnish cell phone company said Monday that it had requested declarations that Qualcomm’s European patents were exhausted on products sold in the European Union.

It said that Texas Instruments Inc. and Qualcomm had entered into a “so-called Patent Portfolio License in 2000.”
