United Continental, ANA Get Final Antitrust Approval

Law360, New York (November 12, 2010, 11:58 AM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation has granted antitrust immunity to United Air Lines Inc., Continental Airlines Inc. and All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd., the final step before the launch of a joint venture that will combine the airlines' trans-Pacific flights.

United Continental Holdings Inc., which owns both of the U.S. carriers, announced the DOT's final order on Wednesday. The waiver of antitrust proceedings against the joint venture allows the airlines to partner on flight schedules and pricing arrangements.
