Asarco, EPA Strike $2.4M Deal Over Blue Ledge Mine

Law360, New York (November 15, 2010, 3:06 PM EST) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will get a $2.35 million allowed general unsecured claim as part of a settlement with Asarco LLC over environmental contamination at the Blue Ledge Mine Superfund site in California.

The settlement — subject to a 15-day public comment period — was filed Friday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas and covers a proof of claim the government lodged in Asarco's Chapter 11 case, as well as a suit the company filed claiming it owed the government...
