Gender Claims Cut From SEIU Discrimination Suit

Law360, New York (November 15, 2010, 4:22 PM EST) -- A judge has scrubbed discrimination claims from a putative class action alleging that the leadership of a local affiliate of the Service Employees International Union denied Hispanic members and women job advancement, equal training and other benefits.

Judge Richard Seeborg of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled Friday that a group of SEIU Local 87 janitors fell short of successfully pleading gender discrimination, but left national origin discrimination claims intact.
