Senate GOP Blocks Vote On Paycheck Fairness Act

Law360, New York (November 17, 2010, 1:18 PM EST) -- U.S. Senate Democrats on Wednesday fell two votes shy of the 60 needed to move forward with the Paycheck Fairness Act, a bill aimed at closing the wage gap between men and women that critics say could hurt business.

With the 58-41 vote, Democrats failed to get the support necessary to invoke cloture on S. 3772, which would have ended debate and brought the controversial proposal up for a vote in the Senate's lame-duck session.
