Tri-Star CEO Hit With Fraud, Kickback Charges

Law360, New York (November 17, 2010, 12:35 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has charged the president of Tri-Star Holdings Inc. with offering kickbacks to a pension fund fiduciary for buying millions of shares in the purported gold mining company at inflated prices.

Prosecutors filed suit Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida accusing Anthony Mellone of conspiring to commit securities fraud and inducing a pension fund fiduciary to misappropriate money in order to buy stock in Tri-Star, which is listed on the Pink Sheets.
